Rest, renewal and resurrection

We will finally be en route to Baguio City for a much-needed and well-deserved break. We should have left last night but there were problems in the travel arrangements. We will be back by Monday morning.

Holy Week, especially Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, are the two most somber events in our national calendar. These are dates that call on us to pause and reflect on what we have done and failed to do to others. And we do so as individuals  who are part of a couple, a family, a barkada, an office or school, an organization, and as citizens of this nation.

What is odd is that we Filipinos focus much on the passion of Christ, failing to celebrate Easter in a big way. As a people who continue to endure endless personal and national penitensya, we should look forward to our country rising again.

Perhaps, the greatest thought this season is this: NO MATTER WHAT, WE WILL OVERCOME!
