Libanan’s sudden show of ‘nationalism’

Marcelino Libanan, who used to chair the House justice committee, and now Bureau of Immigration chief, has rediscovered “nationalism” and ordered the deportation of a Dutch national who “insulted” the country upon arrival at the airport.

No word has been heard from Libanan about similar characters from abroad  who have managed to sneak into the country to: 1) work on contracts accompanied by large-scale bribery of Philippine officials;  2) commit rape and/or defend the crime while on duty as a soldier or as a diplomat; 3) mine away in protected areas or territories claimed by indigenous peoples; 4) conduct marine seismic studies in Philippine waters under an agreement that remains unapproved by the Senate; 5) undertake counterinsurgency operations under the cover of counter-terrorism training; and so on.
