Bomb scare fails to defuse explosive PUP forum with Lozada

The dirty tricks department of the Arroyo mafia government is at it again this morning as some jerk phoned in a bomb threat at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines where Jun Lozada was set to speak.

PUP, a bulwark of student activism, was in the middle of a mass walkout when the bomb scare occured. Panic, of course, ensued, leaving one person (out of tens of thousands of PUP students) hurt.

Weaker beings would have been disencouraged, as was what the “brains” behind the bomb scare would want to happen. But the students of the country’s biggest state university are indeed a militant and vigilant lot. And so was Lozada who was undeterred. The speaking engagement with the PUP students continued as scheduled — despite attempts by Gloria’s loyalist forces to enter and sweep the building. The students resisted the intrusion, citing prior agreements with authorities that there will be zero police presence inside the university.

Anyway, I just want to point out reports that Lozada was himself banned from entering the university premises except for the ampitheater. Why the PUP administration thought about banning Lozada, I do not know.

Kudos to the Youth Act Now! coalition for their “Gloria-Free Zones” campaign, launched today in PUP and scores of schools across the Metro.
