Filipinos distrustful of GMA reaches 46%, Pulse Asia survey shows

Calls for President Arroyo’s resignation are expected to snowball following the release of the latest Pulse Asia survey that showed the discredited leader’s rating up to 46%.

The Batasan blast is the latest example of how Arroyo is no longer capable to secure the nation from attacks.

From GMAnews.tv:

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s distrust rating rose to 46 percent, while her overall disapproval rating of 39 percent was considered “the highest among the country’s top five national officials.”

These were the findings by Pulse Asia from its October 2007 Ulat ng Bayan survey on presidential performance and trust ratings, which was conducted when critics renewed their call for President Arroyo’s resignation over allegations of bribery and cash handouts to government officials.

“Amidst new calls for her resignation over the ZTE bribery scandal and the cash handouts to several government officials, President Arroyo registers an overall disapproval rating of 39 percent – the highest among the country’s top five national officials,” Pulse Asia said.

It said Metro Manilans continue to be most critical of the President (51 percent), while those from the Visayas region registered the lowest disapproval rating (33 percent). Pulse Asia said the said figures were higher than those recorded in July 2007 (+14 and +12 percentage points, respectively).

Also, Pulse Asia said President Arroyo’s level of disapproval in Mindanao increased by 10 percentage points during the same period.

From ABS-CBNnews.com:

In October 2007, Mrs. Arroyo’s distrust ratings went up to 46 percent while she continued to enjoy the trust of less than a quarter or 23 percent of the respondents. Thirty-one percent were undecided.

The lowest distrust ratings were recorded in the Visayas (41%) while 54 percent of the respondents in Metro Manila said they did not trust her.

A notable increase in the levels of distrust ratings in the Visayas among Classes ABC and E was recorded.

Pulse Asia’s nationwide survey, which was conducted from October 20 to 31, 2007, had a plus and minus three percent error margin with 95 percent confidence level.
