History will once again be made in the great city of Cebu: Stalwarts of the anti-pork barrel movement will gather there on Aug. 23 at the Mariners’ Court for a People’s Congress to discuss and approve the People’s Initiative documents and at the Plaza Independencia to formally launch the People’s Initiative signature campaign.
With both the Congress and President BS Aquino not interested in abolishing the pork barrel system they immensely benefit and steal from, a wide range of personalities and organizations have endorsed the mode of People’s Initiative — letting the people themselves, or us, take matters in our hands.
Former Chief Justice Reynato Puno, Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, CBCP President Socrates Villegas are among those who agree that the People’s Initiative is the solution to our pork barrel woes.
