Nov. 5 ‘big’ event: Opposition to file impeach raps vs. Arroyo

This may mean a constitutional crisis, but it may the good one that the public badly needs.

The opposition will file tomorrow an impeachment complaint against President Arroyo based on allegations that she was involved in the ZTE scandal and her role in the unresolved extrajudicial executions of her critics.

Arroyo’s henchmen have spoken over the weekend that the opposition’s impeachment complaint may be considered “dead on arrival” because they have transmitted the impeachment complaint filed by lawyer Roel Pulido to the House justice committee. But that’s just one part of the story. The other part is the contention that the Pulido complaint is likewise null and void for being a fruit of bribery! A lawyer was quoted by a TV network saying that the bribery in the filing, endorsement and transmittal of the Pulido is in itself a cause to impeach President Arroyo, apart from being a “bastardization” and “mutilation” of the constitutional process of impeachment.

Lest we forget, an official of Arroyo’s party Kampi tried to bribe Anakpawis Rep. Crispin Beltran into endorsing the Pulido complaint:

The debate between the pro-Arroyo solons and the opposition may ultimately reach the Supreme Court.

If unaddressed, the Pulido complaint, like the earlier Lozano complaint, may go down in history as another immoral attempt to innoculate Arroyo from a real impeachment complaint.

We will see what happens starting tomorrow. We will see the final look and feel of the opposition’s complaint and whether it is sufficient in form and content. We will also see what kind of foul maneuvers the Arroyo cabal will do to save the fake Queen.
