Chossudovsky to discuss global economic crisis in Manila forum

What ails the global economy? Why did we plunge into this crisis? Whodunnit? What alternatives are available to us?

Join noted economics professor Michel Chossudovsky as he helps local academics and activists answer these questions in two events on Monday, February 9 at the De La Salle University in Manila:

  • Press conference, 10:00 am, Room 1602, Bro. Andrew Gonzales Hall
  • Forum titled “The Global Financial & Economic Crisis: Exposing Capitalism, Looking for Alternatives”, 1:00-5:00 pm, at the Fajardo Gonzales Auditorium, 18th Floor, also at the Bro. Andrew Gonzales Hall

Sponsoring the twin events are the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan, Ibon Foundation, RESIST!  and the La Sallian Justice and Peace Commission.

A professor at the University of Ottawa, Chossudovsky also heads the Montreal-based Centre for Research on Globalisation (CRG), a think tank specializing on crucial economic and geopolitical issues. Its website publishes news articles,  research and analysis on a broad range of issues, focussing on social, economic, strategic and environmental processes.

Last Dec. 10, 2008, the Mexican Club of Journalists awarded Chossudovsky for his role in the Global Research website which the journalists dubbed as “the best research and news website at an international level”. The medal read: “Michel Chossudovsky, Premio Internacional de Periodismo por el Mejor Portal de Investigación Internacional.”
