Way too expensive.

That’s my reaction to the Globe Telecom announcement made to investors today that the company will sell the iPhone 3G starting at P41,899.

Globe has set the iPhone 3G Philippine launch on Aug. 22.

For that amount, one could buy two units of the Nokia E71 smartphone!

There is still no information about subsidies for two-year contracts. UPDATE: Go to Yugatech for the prepaid and postpaid offerings for the iPhone 3G.

  1. This is way to expensive! Here in US, iPhone costs $199 (roughly Php 9,000). Globe Telecom should reconsider the selling price of iPhone in the Philippines.

  2. @John

Napakamahal talaga maningil ng Globe. I suppose the economic crisis will deter many from availing of these expensive “plans”. Globe even made new plans to accomodate the iPhone 3G but they’re all expensive.

  3. Globe = a**holes
They think that the public will not know the real price of the iphone 199 f**king dollars for 8GB and 299 dollars for that f**king 16GB! And they are even happy to tell you that they are lowering the price and we the public should celebrate! yeah right! Oh and btw, people are so happy that the iphone has finally arrive, so where are the long lines? You can find one under an NFA store.
