Event alert! A forum exclusively for Manila bloggers!

Bloggers in Metro Manila and nearby areas are invited to:

“Nakamamatay na Pagbubuntis: Makialam, Makiisa, Tumulong”
A forum with bloggers and reproductive health advocates

on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at 4:30 PM at Centerstage Alfresco, 2nd Floor, CTTM Square, Timog corner Tomas Morato Avenues, Q.C.

Citing various reports, event organizer PLCPD says that an estimated 4,500 mothers are dying every year due to pregnancy-related complications such as severe hemorrhage, hypertensive disorders, sepsis, and problems related to obstructed labor and abortion.

“These deaths could have been prevented if they had access to comprehensive reproductive health and family planning services.” said the PLCPD which stands for Philippine Legislators’ Committee on Population and Development.

The bloggers’ event  is aimed at encouraging bloggers to tackle and discuss issues like reproductive health, population and development.

This is also part of the preparations for the 5th PopDev Media Awards this year, which for the first time includes categories for bloggers!
